Happy Open Access Week! We in the library appreciate Open Access because this publishing model allows researchers and scholars to provide their materials for free to the global community. Some make the choice to publish Open Access out of a desire to make their work known to the widest possible number of people, while others like the faculty of Harvard University and any scientist receiving National Institute of Health funding, are required to do so as part of their work.

You may have already used Open Access journals without knowing it, since we provide links to many of them through the “Do We Have This Journal?” link on the library homepage. We also have links to several Open Access books in our library catalog.

Our library has also been developing an Institutional Repository. In this repository, we can provide free worldwide access to works produced by Gustavus faculty if there are not publisher restrictions.
