The Library is pleased to announce the winner of the 2024-2025 Patricia Lindell Research Paper Award. Congratulations to Sophia Nelson, whose paper, Combinatorial Control of Histone Modifications on Alternative Splicing, was awarded the top prize! The paper was written for Chemistry 360: Proteins; a copy of it can be found in our institutional repository, GustieScholar. The judging panel, comprised of library faculty, was impressed by Nelson’s engaging writing and her robust selection of sources.
The paper was one of five strong finalists. We are pleased to recognize the other four finalists, listed in alphabetical order:
· Emilie Chapdelaine – Pests, Plants, and Productivity: A Comprehensive Assessment of Crop Characteristics, Disease, and Fruit Yield in Mejía, Ecuador
· Kade R. Copple – Prior Acquisition of Aneuploidy Initiates Antifungal Drug Tolerance in Candida albicans
· David Eide – Influencing from the Outside: Diaspora Participation in the Language Politics of Latvia, Belarus, and Ukraine
· Jessica Schwartz – An Exploration of the Key Players in the Molecular Mechanism by which Cytomegalovirus Infection Causes Fetal Harm
Congratulations to our winner and to our finalists. Thank you to everyone who submitted a paper; members of the library faculty always appreciate the opportunity to read the results of student research projects. We would also like to thank all the faculty sponsors who took the time to nominate the submissions. The Library will soon be accepting submissions for the next research paper award to be announced in the fall of 2026.
