Launched by the Academy of American Poets in April 1996, National Poetry Month is a special occasion that celebrates poets’ integral role in our culture and that poetry matters.
Join the Gustavus Library in celebrating National Poetry Month:
- National Poetry Month Display (Hasselquist Room, Library main floor). (Yes, we encourage you to check out items from the display!)
- Friendship Bracelets @ the Library on April 19 (on the occasion of the release of Taylor’s Swift’s aptly-named The Tortured Poets Department)
- Guess the Poet! Weekly trivia! Scan the QR code near the library entrance and submit your answer here for a chance to win a prize at the end of April.
- And more – stay tuned!
Poetry is art, it brings new, remarkable meaning to the mundane. It’s a magic of its own, and the beautiful thing about poetry is that it’s for everyone—it’s up to the poet what the poem looks like.
-Amanda Gorman (interview with the National Education Association)
