Worried about fake news? Yeah, so are we.
Fake news is no joke. It undermines facts, confuses local and national discussions, and threatens our very democracy.
Libraries play a unique and important role in educating people about fake news. In fact, the mission of the Gustavus Library is “instructing in [information’s] use, interpretation, and evaluation.”
In the spirit of that charge, we’ve started putting together an online resource for exploring issues surrounding fake news and – especially – to help you identify valid information sources and disregard ones that are lies.
We’ll continue adding more resources to the guide, Combating Fake News, so stop back often.
Have an example of fake news? Or a resource to suggest for the guide? Let us know!
