We are pleased to announce that Lucia Beste Zehnder ‘26 (Biology major, Chemistry minor, pre-med track) has been selected as the Folke Bernadotte Memorial Library’s 2025–2026 Patricia Lindell Scholar.
This year’s project will focus on exploring and enhancing student wellness in the library, with particular attention to creating safe, welcoming, and supportive spaces for all who use the building. Lucia brings a deep personal connection to libraries and a strong foundation in student-centered service to this work.
As a Writing Center Assistant, Lucia spends many hours in the library helping peers navigate the writing process and generating initiatives that support student well-being in the Writing Center environment. As a Crisis Center Hotline volunteer, Lucia’s interest in mental health support extends beyond campus as well.
Lucia’s experiences and extensive coursework have prepared her well for this project. We are excited to see how she brings her skills and experiences to a new research context—one that blends her interests in healthcare, community support, and student advocacy.
We congratulate Lucia and look forward to working with her this spring.
